One more guys! Just one more! It’s totally worth the spam!

This is “King/Sellout” by Jared & Amber

Here’s another video from my friends Jared & Amber ! I’m sorry for the spam guys, but seriously, they are incredible!

This one is called, “The Taxidermist”

These are my friends Jared & Amber with The Hot Hearts playing live at The Red Clay Theater in Duluth, Georgia last night! It was fantastic. I’ve never heard music this clear and gorgeously mixed ever!

In this video they’re covering “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac

So….

After a very very long day at work, because of having to deal with the aftermath of some moron breaking into Condesa the night before… With an axe… through the drywall in the empty store front next door…

I started on my journey home and ran out of gas. I called the cops who gave me a ride in the back of their police cruiser. Which was really interesting, I asked a lot of questions. The seats are made of plastic. And there are bars on the window. I’m a good kid, I’ve never been arrested before so it was really interesting to see the back of a police car. THEY WERE LISTENING TO MUSE! I usually dislike cops a lot, but these guys, Decatur Police, are pretty flippin’ awesome. And super friendly.

But gas cans that cost $8 and being gipped out of a full gallon of gas (A gallon of gas cost 3.29, but the pump only gave me .997 gallons of gas) is a bunch bull.

Herds of bull.

Think Texas amount of bull.

Anyway, I’m finally home safe and sound in my warm house.

Oh, by the way, I also got to be the spokesperson for Condesa for Atlanta Action News 2 about the break in. That was SO much fun, the news lady was nice and was great to talk to.

They were going to show it tonight, but since snow is SUCH a big deal here in Atlanta, they decided to spend all the time allotted for news on that and save my segment until tomorrow night.

So tune in then! I’ll post a link to it here for all you cool cats that don’t live in Atlanta!

P.S. I really love the coffee/small business community in Atlanta.

Don’t Cry Over Spilt Milk

So, as you Tumblr folks know, yesterday was suppose to be my first day of “epic barista training”, a month long course of practicing making drinks to get ready for my barista certification.

I was working with Matt, my boss and great friend, while working I went to get our store more milk and I bought two personal gallons to practice. When I got back and was ready to train on drinks with Matt. I went to retrieve one of my gallons and ended up dropping the whole jug onto the floor spilling it all over the place.

Get the headline now?

Good.

It wasn’t a great start to the day, and I spent the rest of the day relaxing, practicing my latte art, and playing with food ideas for Condesa’s menu until 6:30 when I headed to the Counter Culture Training Center at the Kings Plow Art Center to sign up for the Cup Tasting Competition. It was intense and my nerves were getting all in the way.

I signed up in the third slot and when the time came  to compete I was going to be in the first round of the competition. Ben, one of the Counter Culture guys, explained how it worked to everyone, then me and two other competitors took our places.

Now this is the part in the movie where I tell about how I won/placed in the competition despite all odds.

The Adventure Continues

I’m still making my way in life here in Atlanta.

I’ve learned a lot about myself these last 4 1/2 months. All for the best, whether good or bad.

I’ve lost friendships to distance and circumstances, and in the same breath I’ve gained friendships that will last for a long time.

I’m becoming skilled in coffee but hopefully without the snobbery

(Please, God, keep me from being “that hipster coffee snob”)

I’ve learned working in coffee gains you instant hipster status without having to spend all the money on the clothes and junk. And I will still deny my hipster status.

Although I do love the music, but I love all sorts of music.

Atlanta is amazing there is so much potential here, there so much to see and do and build and experience and lose and gain and love and suffer and succeed and fail and to carpe.

My Coffee Stewardship certification is in two weeks, and my first coffee triangle competition is this upcoming Thursday. I want and kinda need to win that.

This adventure is awesome and scary and anything can happen.

I’m very confident that this will be awesome, and I’m so glad you people here on Tumblr can see what’s going on and kinda experience it with me. Adventures are way better with friends.

Do you agree?

How I spend my time…

I’ve realized lately that I spend almost every single day at Condesa. Even when I’m not working, I’ll even get up from my computer or book to help out my friends working behind the counter if they need it.

At first I thought this was a problem, like, “Come on Kris, you don’t have a life. Go do something!” Then I thought about it and realized that I would be hanging out at a coffee shop even if I didn’t work at Condesa… It just so happens that I get free food and coffee here since I work here. So there, I totally have a life and friends! Also, hanging out in a coffee shop is the absolute best, the atmosphere is perfect!

But, with that being said, I do want to explore more of Atlanta. But, that kinda takes money, which I will one day have a consistent flow of hopefully starting next Friday!

Another thing is that I really want to make friends to hang out with when I’m not at Condesa, or after Condesa closes (same thing), and hopefully saying that doesn’t make me sound like I’m wanting to throw myself a pity party but come on… If you’re going to go out and work yo body like this.

                                                  Like a sexy boss!

It’d be nice to have some friends around to back you up.

The Wishing Tree

Yesterday I was walking around Decatur and I came upon this!

A legit wishing tree! I didn’t make a wish because I was on my way to go grab some dinner and I didn’t have any paper, but anyway… I decided to read over a couple of wishes and I saw a wish that I particularly liked.

I love Doctor Who. The story, the production, the music, the sounds of the Tardis landing. It’s fun to see other people, even just through paper who like the show as well.

I love this city!

The Mason Update: When I Find Myself in Times of Trouble

Hey guys, I haven’t actually talked to you people in a while haven’t I? (Half the point of having this blog). Well, let’s get you guys up to speed, there’s quite a bit, but don’t worry I’ll keep it brief. Ready?
